Manslaughter and assault charges have been laid today against the police officer in charge of the Palm Island police station at the time of the death in custody of Mulrunji Doomadgee. In the Supreme Court in Brisbane today, Senior Sergeant Hurley was charged with the manslaughter and assault of 36-year-old Mulrunji Doomadgee, while he was detained at the Palm Island lockup, in 2004.
